An association representing the nation's largest banks is considering expanding its members to include global financial institutions like Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, Politico reported Wednesday.
The Bank Policy Institute was formed by the merger of Financial Services Roundtable and the Clearing House Association in 2018. The new group currently has 42 members representing U.S. banks. Discussions are underway among members to expand members to include global financial institutions, the newspaper reported.
The proposed expansion could bring in more dues, but it could also increase concerns among smaller members that the largest banks are driving BPI's agenda, according to Politico. BPI declined to comment when contacted by the newspaper. https://politi.co/2LDg0bq
