Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International will absorb the Electronic System Design Alliance under an agreement announced Monday.
The ESD Alliance is an association representing companies that provide goods to semiconductor manufacturers and suppliers. The Redwood City, Calif.-based group will become a strategic association partner with SEMI under the agreement, meaning the ESD Alliance will merge with the larger SEMI but still retain its own board of directors.
"Design is the very foundation of semiconductor innovation and manufacturing, and the ESD Alliance complements SEMI's existing membership in bringing smarter, faster, more powerful, and more affordable electronic products to more people every day," SEMI CEO Ajit Manocha said.
SEMI is a $45 million-revenue association based in Milpitas, Calif. The ESD Alliance does not disclose revenue but lists 31 voting business members on its website. http://bit.ly/2J63FaG
