Snowsports Industries America is preparing to sell its annual Snow Show to Emerald Exhibitions for $16.7 million, the Denver Post reported.
SIA sent a letter Thursday to its more than 1,000 members announcing that the association's board of directors had unanimously voted to sell the show, held in Denver. Members must now approve the deal.
Emerald Exhibitions is the owner of the biannual Outdoor Retailer show, sponsored by the Outdoor Industry Association. That event is moving from its longtime home in Salt Lake City in protest of efforts by Utah lawmakers to weaken protections for federal public lands in the state. The trade show is looking for a new home, and the sale of Snow Show would clear the final obstacle for the event landing in Denver, the newspaper reported.
The city previously agreed to host the Snow Show through 2030, but only if it did not host other outdoor retail shows in the weeks around the event. Emerald Exhibitions would debut the rebranded "Outdoor Retailer Snow Show" in January 2017 under the terms of the new agreement.
If SIA members approve the deal, the new contract would be signed May 24. http://dpo.st/2r0cQ7j
