The Society of Vascular Surgery will relocate from Chicago to one of the city's suburbs in 2019 as part of a move that will allow the $11 million-revenue group to grow.
SVS is currently located at 622 North St. Clair St. in downtown Chicago, near the lakefront. The group will move to new offices at 9400 W. Higgins Road in Rosemont, Ill., next year. The new location is roughly 18 miles west of Chicago and three miles east of Chicago O'Hare International Airport.
The 180,000-square foot building opened in 2015 as a center for the orthopedic profession. Funds for the project were raised by five medical organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. The site is currently home more than 25 orthopaedic organizations and a surgical simulation center where surgeons can practice procedures and maintain their open-surgery skills.
The new office space is twice the size of the society's current offices, according to an SVS statement. The society employs 30 staff. In addition, the group provides management services for the Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery, the Society for Vascular Nursing and the Delaware Valley Vascular Society.
"In 10 to 20 years we will be a different organization because of this space," SVS elected President Michel Makaroun said in a statement. "We will be working collaboratively with vascular societies, medical societies and health organizations in a whole new way as well."
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. http://bit.ly/2B1D6Rz
