Associations oppose restricting food stamps Several associations are speaking out against a movement among politicians to limit food stamp benefits to healthy foods, saying such a measure would do little to fight obesity. Groups such as the American Beverage Association oppose the idea, which has gained traction among lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. Obesity "is a complex health condition that affects Americans of all income levels," Chris Gindlesperger, ABA'a public affairs director, told Bloomberg News.
