NRF appeals swipe fee settlement The National Retail Federation announced Thursday it had appealed a $5.7 billion court settlement concerning credit card swipe fees, arguing the terms of the agreement do nothing to alleviate the concerns of its industry. At issue is a lawsuit that pitted individual merchants against Visa, MasterCard and some of the nation's largest banks. Retailers accused the financial intuitions of price fixing, saying they had collaborated to set credit card swipe fees at artificially high rates.
