Food groups begin review of upcoming safety regulations Several associations representing food producers are readying for the upcoming release of new food safety regulations, part of what they say is the most comprehensive reforms in their industry in more than 70 years. The Food Safety and Modernization Act was signed into law by President Barack Obama two years ago. Under its provisions, the Food and Drug Administration will implement more than 50 regulations aimed at improving food safety, according to the Grocery Manufacturers Association.
