Groups hail decision to allow electronic devices on airplanes Travelers will no longer be required to put away their iPads and other electronic devices during certain portions of their flights, and several associations say that is a change for the better. The Federal Aviation Administration announced Thursday it would relax prohibitions against using electronic devices during landings and takeoffs after concluding that such devices do not interfere with aircraft systems.
