CEO DATELINE - Watermelon group named a brand champion for Nashville

The National Watermelon Association "raised the bar" when it came to embracing and incorporating the Music City Brand for its convention in Nashville, Tenn., last year. NWA announced recently that it had been selected as the association business Music City Brand Champion for 2018.

"The 2018 finalists all utilized the brand in clever ways. The National Watermelon Association, however, raised the bar and created a multi-layer program that stood out above the competition," Butch Spyridon, president of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp., said in a June 25 NWA news release.
For the February 2018 convention at the Sheraton Music City Hotel, NWA created an event-specific website, a mobile app and also organized several unique-to-Nashville events for attendees. Logos for the meeting included guitars and guitar picks colored to look like a slice of watermelon, in pink and green with black seeds.
The 2018 brand champion honors also went to the Pokémon World Championships. Previous brand champions include the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages' Annual Convention & World Languages Expo, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the National Rifle Association.
