Todman joined NAHRO in 2017 from the District of Columbia Housing Authority, where she was executive director. She had previously served in several career positions at HUD, including as policy aide in both the Office of Public and Indian Housing and the Office of the Secretary.
"(Todman) is widely recognized for her accomplishments in the affordable housing industry," the White House said in a statement. "She also served as a legislative director in then-Congressman Ron de Lugo's office, a long-serving delegate representing the U.S. Virgin Islands where Todman was born and raised. "
In a statement on the association's website, NAHRO President Sunny Shaw said the organization is "proud that NAHRO CEO Adrianne Todman was nominated to serve as HUD Deputy Secretary."
"She is an experienced practitioner with vast knowledge of the affordable housing industry and a track record of operational and managerial excellence. We support her nomination and look forward to her next steps," she said.
Todman would serve under HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge if her nomination is confirmed by the Senate. The association didn't announce any immediate plans to replace Todman should she get the job.
NAHRO's members include more than 2,600 agencies and more than 17,000 individual members and associates. NAHRO members own or administer a vast majority of the nation's public housing, according to the association's website.
