PANEL MEMBERS
Anita Dunn, managing director, SKDKnickerbocker
Dunn is a prominent political, media and communications strategist. She was White House communications director for President Obama after a pivotal, senior advisor role in his presidential campaign, from which she directed conventional and new media communications strategies. After leaving the White House in 2009, Dunn resumed her partnership in the strategic communications consulting firm SKDKnickerbocker, where she works with NGOs, trade associations and large companies to craft communication strategies in the context of a rapidly changing media environment.

Margery Kraus, founder and CEO, APCO Worldwide
Kraus launched APCO as part of power D.C. law firm Arnold & Porter, then led a buyout in 2004, making the consulting firm an independent force specializing in public affairs, communications and business counsel for major multinational organizations. Kraus transformed APCO from one small Washington, D.C., office in 1984 to 29 worldwide locations with more than 600 employees. Her focus is devising strategy on issue-based communication, crisis management, market entry and corporate reputation across diverse industry groups, and she pioneered one of the industry's earliest practices in corporate responsibility and the development of public/private partnerships.

Nels Olson, vice chairman, Korn/Ferry International
Olson heads the Washington, D.C., office of the biggest name in executive recruiting, Korn/Ferry International, and during his more than 20 years at the firm, has placed influential, sought-after people at government agencies, nonprofit organizations and prominent associations, including Chris Dodd at the Motion Picture Association of America and Michael Powell at the National Cable and Telecommunication Association. Olson came to high-profile executive search while on staff at the White House Office of Presidential Appointments for President George H.W. Bush.

Matthew Shay, President and CEO, National Retail Federation
Since 2010, Shay has headed influential National Retail Federation, a $38 million-revenue trade group representing an industry with more than 3.6 million establishments, employing more than 42 million people. Shay is credited with leading NRF to a new level of effectiveness on policy issues, increasing awareness of his industry's economic contributions and emphasizing the group's political activity. Previously, Shay led the International Franchise Association for five years, where he spearheaded an aggressive public policy agenda leading to initiatives restoring the flow of credit to cash-strapped retail and other franchise businesses during the recession.
