Executive staff salaries in nonprofit associations reach new, higher levels

Staffers working for Washington, D.C.-based trade groups among best paid $540,000. That's the minimum take-home pay required to earn a spot on this year's CEO Update list of the 200 highest paid staff in tax-exempt organizations. Topping the list is Stephen Luparello, former vice chairman of the $1.5 billion-revenue Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. In 2012, he earned $5.3 million, boosted by a $3.8 million retirement payout on his departure.
