By Gerard F. Hurley Recently, it has struck me that some candidates for CEO positions fail to provide supportive references who can affirm their achievements. Such oversight can impede what should be a smooth vetting process, undermine collegial and personal relationships and even call into question the candidates advancement potential. It is always a disappointment when, after detailing a candidates strengths and experience, the credible references provided short-circuit the employment conversation with a candid great guy, but not for that position assessment.
