Former secretary of the Army to lead $18M-revenue group; succeeds retired three-star general and industry executive Dave Melcher Fanning The former head of the U.S. Army has been chosen to lead the Aerospace Industries Association after the group's current CEO steps down at the end of the year. Eric Fanning will become president and CEO of the $18 million-revenue association on Jan. 1, 2018, the organization announced Sept. 18. Fanning most recently was secretary of the Army under President Barack Obama. He stepped down from the position in January.
