The $4M-revenue Consumer Data Industry Association has tapped Financial Services Roundtable lobbyist Francis Creighton as president and CEO, effective May 15.
Creighton currently is executive vice president of government affairs at FSR. He previously was vice president and chief lobbyist at the Mortgage Bankers Association, coordinating advocacy activities for the group during the financial crisis of the last decade.
He will succeed interim CEO Eric Ellman, who will resume his role of senior vice president for public policy and legal affairs at the association. Ellman replaced Stuart Pratt, who stepped down in September 2016 to become senior vice president for government and industry relations at property analytics firm CoreLogic.
"We are pleased that Francis will be joining CDIA as president and CEO," said Rick Trainor, chairman of CDIA's board of directors. "His experience and leadership skills will be a welcome addition to our team, and we look forward to working with him."
CDIA represents businesses providing credit reporting, mortgage reporting, tenant screening, check verification, employment reporting, fraud verification and collection services. The group has more than 120 corporate members.
Creighton has headed FSR's government affairs team since 2014. After leaving MBA in 2009, he spent five years as chief of staff to Rep. and later Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.). He also is a member of the adjunct teaching faculty at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University.
He has a master's degree in public policy from Georgetown University.
