Go to #ASAE15 with CEO Update

Deep dives on opening day provide extra way to earn CAE credits; CEO Update to offer video samples to Twitter followers

CEO Update is introducing a new twist to coverage for attendees and nonattendees alike: Live-streaming mobile video through Twitter's Periscope app.

ASAE does not allow its content, such as Learning Labs, Game Changers and opening and closing sessions, to be broadcast live, but CEO Update will broadcast:

  • Interviews with attendees between sessions throughout the meeting.

  • Interviews with ASAE CEO John Graham and incoming Chair Abe Eshkenazi about midday Monday, Aug. 10. Eshkenazi is president and CEO of Chicago-based professional society APICS.

  • A walk-through of the trade show floor with exhibitor and attendee interviews, about 1 p.m. Monday.

New elements, strong attendance on tap for #ASAE15

Preliminary registration has been robust for the ASAE 2015 Annual Meeting & Expo Aug. 8-11 in Detroit.
"Attendance numbers are very strong for Detroit," said Amy Ledoux, senior vice president of meetings and expositions. "In fact, we've had to increase our room block to accommodate the strong attendance.

"We have close to 2,600 executive registrants so far, putting Detroit in the top five for executive attendance in the past 10 years," she said.

ASAE said registration for the annual meeting is well ahead of last year's pace.

Of course, the Learning Labs, Game Changer sessions, high-concept speakers and—yes—the parties are all queued for this year's #ASAE15.

But there are new elements as well, starting with two three-hour deep dive sessions on Saturday, Aug. 8, before the opening celebration.

They are "Achieving Global Growth" and "To CEO or Not to CEO." Each carries three CAE credits.

"A lot of people are looking for more CAE points, and ASAE also has committed to offering more for those aspiring CEOs," said Anne Blouin, the retiring long-time head of ASAE's educational offerings. (Her replacement as chief learning officer, Rhonda Payne, starts Aug. 1 and both will attend the meeting.)

Another new event is the Executive Leadership Program. Its limited registration of 30 attendees for #ASAE15 "sold out months ago," Blouin said. Top executives—most of the registrants are CEOs or COOs—who are interested in the program may want to register early next year, she said.

Curriculum was developed in conjunction with the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business, and is based on governance research by the university and the ASAE Foundation.

The session is all day Tuesday, Aug. 11, the final day of the meeting. Participants break for the closing general session but then return to the program.
