Harbert energized at home and abroad

Head of Institute for 21st Century Energy is a world traveler Harbert Karen Harbert knows what it's like to live where energy is scarce. Earlier in her career, she worked in places few people would choose to go on vacation, including Haiti, the Western Hemisphere's poorest country. Energy "is the great equalizer," she said. "If you have it, you're well off. If you don't, you're not." She still travels a lot as CEO since 2008 of the Institute for 21st Century Energy, an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, but her destinations are more likely to include Canada and cities across the United States.
