Former International Fragrance Association North America president will guide chemical association through office move
Abril
The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates has named Jennifer Abril president and CEO, effective Oct. 24.
Abril's appointment to the position marks her return to the $6 million-revenue association. She previously spent nearly three years at SOCMA as director of the ChemStewards environmental and safety program before moving in 2008 to become president of the $2M-revenue International Fragrance Association North America, which she led for more than seven years. She most recently was principal of the association management and advisory firm Flipchart Advisors.
Abril succeeds Larry Sloan, who left this month to become CEO of the American Industrial Hygiene Association. SOCMA's new CEO is inheriting an association in transition, with the group planning to move its headquarters from Washington, D.C., to Crystal City in Arlington, Va., next year.
