Marby March 4, 2016 Departures Feal to leave language association in 2017. Rosemary Feal will step down as executive director of the $16M-revenue Modern Language Association in summer 2017. Feal has led the New York City-based group since 2002. She previously was a professor of Spanish at the University of Buffalo, SUNY, where she earned her Ph.D. in the language. Feal said in a statement she may return to teaching after she leaves MLA. The association's executive council has formed a search committee to find Feal's replacement.
