Hersman CEO Departures NSC head leaving for industry job Deborah Hersman will step down as CEO of the $60M-revenue National Safety Council on Jan. 11 to join self-driving technology company Waymo as chief safety officer. Hersman joined the Itasca, Ill.-based NSC in 2014 after having previously spent 10 years on the National Transportation Safety Board, including five as chair. She has a master's degree in conflict analysis and resolution from George Mason University.
