Associations Heading East Toward the Hill

While K Street has become renowned as the city’s lobbying corridor, offices at the foot of Capitol Hill may become the new stomping grounds for trade associations. Some associations say that as their leases come up, they’re looking east for office space and property within walking distance of lawmakers. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce recently finished remodeling a five-story townhouse at 419 New Jersey Ave. SE. The Chamber paid $1.9 million for the property in August 2005, according to city property tax records.
