Boards need to focus on strategy and reflect membership

Association boards are responsible for strategic thinking and planning, but members, who are often from similar backgrounds, are vulnerable to groupthink and getting distracted by operational details. Two associations trying to change those dynamics are the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) and the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA).
