CEO Salaries and Bonuses Climb

More chief executives of associations are receiving hefty pay raises and bonuses year over year, along with increases in base salary, according to the 2006 National Compensation Study, compiled by American Research Company. The average CEO surveyed took home $14,847 in bonuses in 2006, or 13 percent of their average base salary. And 86 percent received increases in pay, up from 82 percent in 2005. Chief executives of trade associations also earn 24 percent more pay than their counterparts who lead professional societies, a consistent trend since 1993.
