Chemical engineer and innovation chief will succeed retiring American Chemical Society CEO Madeleine Jacobs early next year Connelly The American Chemical Society is tapping a longtime member to be its next executive director and CEO: DuPont's top science and innovation executive, Thomas Connelly. Connelly is retiring from DuPont at the end of this year after 36 years with the global giant. He has been DuPont's chief science and technology officer since 2000, and became executive vice president and chief innovation officer in 2006.
