IFA to name award after former CEO Caldeira

The Franchise Education & Research Foundation, an affiliate of $16 million-revenue International Franchise Association, said May 26 it had established a scholarship named for former IFA CEO Steve Caldeira as part of its NextGen/Student in Franchising program. The scholarship is supported by a donation from Steve Joyce, IFA past chairman and president and CEO of Choice Hotels International. The first award—worth more than $4,000 in travel and tuition assistance—will be given in January at IFA's annual convention. Caldeira left the group following a contract dispute in September 2015.
