Institute begins executive succession The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) began its new year with an executive changeover. John Sofranko stepped down after eight years of leadership at the New York City-based group. AIChE promoted June Wispelwey, executive director of its affiliate, the Society for Biological Engineering, to replace Sofranko, earlier this month. Past President Bill Byers chaired the 16-month executive search to find Sofranko’s successor. AIChE also retained recruitment firm Korn/Ferry International.
