Wind power posts record growth The Washington, D.C.-based American Wind Energy Association said today that the industry posted record-breaking growth last year. Power generation from wind rose 117 percent in the United States, and produced more than 10 percent of the electricity in nine states, up from five states in 2011. Wind power produced 3.5 percent of the nation's electricity last year, the $34 million-revenue group said. AWEA said it sees continued growth as new projects are announced.
