Magazine group adopts new image for digital age

Adopting a combination of initials and tagline, Magazine Publishers of America has changed to MPA—The Association of Magazine Media to reflect the variety of platforms—including iPads and e-readers—on which magazine-style content can flourish. The new name and logo were officially introduced to members at the $15 million-revenue association’s annual American Magazine Conference Oct. 4 in Chicago.

Grocery group joins anti-crime effort

The $28M-revenue Food Marketing Institute, which represents food retailers and wholesalers, joined the National Retail Federation and eBay in an effort to counter thieves who sell stolen goods online and elsewhere, the parties announced Sept. 27. The $30M-revenue NRF and internet company eBay created the original partnership in March. The alliance was formed to increase collaboration in assisting law enforcement as well as boost efforts to lobby for increased criminal penalties and other measures.
