Veteran CEOs credit their tenure to attitude, reinvention

Association CEOs who have guided their groups for 20 years or more attribute their longevity not only to solid board and member relationships, but also to their personal integrity and unique strategies for keeping their work fresh. A review of data from AssociationIntelligence, the database affiliate of CEO Update, found that more than 60 nonprofit groups have CEOs who have been in the top spot for at least 20 years, an eon compared to the three- to five-year stints that are becoming more common for association CEOs.
