Kyle Pitsor worked in international trade at the U.S. Department of Commerce, after graduate school, where he focused on implementing the Tokyo Round agreement of GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) and on opening international markets to electric utility equipment. There, he discovered NEMA. While at the Commerce Department, Pitsor was en route to a career with the U.S. States Department, but he veered to the association community joining NEMA in 1982.
