Veterans’ advocate takes helm of now-unified ASAE board

Longtime ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership member Velma R. Hart, the chief financial officer of Lanham, Md.-based veterans advocacy organization AMVETS, told CEO Update she is “humbled beyond measure” to be named the next chair of ASAE’s newly meshed board of directors, a position she assumed Aug. 18. “It forces me to pause and take stock,” said Hart, the first African-American to chair the board. “I have a passion for the industry we serve.
