Longtime employee to lead lung association

The $49M-revenue American Lung Association has named Harold Wimmer president and CEO, effective Feb. 1. He will replace Charles Connor, who retired in June. Wimmer has been an ALA employee for 34 years. He most recently was CEO of ALA of the Upper Midwest, and previously held the same position at the Illinois and Iowa chapters of the organization. He also led the creation of the ALA Lung Helpline, a national, toll-free phone service. Wimmer has a bachelor's degree in community health and a master's degree health administration and policy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
