CEO Update, as the most trusted independent resource on association news and people, is launching a recognition program honoring standout executives for their excellence in leadership and advocacy. The three awards are:

• Trade Association CEO of the Year
• Professional Society CEO of the Year
• Lobbyist of the Year

Nominations were accepted from the association community in April and an independent panel of industry experts will make final selections based on clearly defined criteria, which include:

CEO candidates

• Effectiveness in presenting industry/profession story
• Reputation for accomplishing association mission
• Proven leadership ability in and outside the group
• Successful financial bottom-line results
• Social capital: Volunteer contribution to association-related, charitable or civic groups

Lobbyist of the Year

• Demonstrable legislative or regulatory progress on behalf of association.
• Strong reputation, relationships with officials and within association advocacy circles
• Significant ability to communicate the association's public policy positions internally and externally.

In the last five years, CEO Update has been spotlighting the best practices of top CEOS and lobbyists in print and online. The new awards program is a logical evolution of the publication's service to the association community.

The three honorees will be celebrated in the fall at the National Press Club, at an event set for October 2014.
