Grocery stalwart announces retirement After roughly 28 years at the helm of the Arlington, Va.-based, 1,800-member National Grocers Association, Thomas K. Zaucha announced he will retire from the group in the summer of 2010. Zaucha, who worked at his grandmother’s grocery store when he was a child, was president of the Cooperative Food Distributors of America from 1978 to 1982. That year, the CFDA merged to become the NGA, of which Zaucha was named president and CEO.
