Associations head to court to block control tower closures Two associations representing airport executives are suing to stop the Federal Aviation Administration from closing up to 149 contract air traffic control towers as a result of budget sequestration. The American Association of Airport Executives and its affiliate, the U.S. Contract Tower Association, announced Thursday they have filed suit in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals against the FAA in advance of its plans to close the towers beginning April 7.
