Marijuana-related business leaders launch first-ever industry trade association

The increased use of marijuana for medical purposes has led to the creation of the nation’s first pot trade association, the Washington, D.C.-based National Cannabis Industry Association. More than 20 businesspeople from various sectors of the industry—such as medical dispensaries and marijuana lifestyle magazines—comprise the board, according to a statement released Nov. 23.

McSlarrow to leave cable and telecommunications group

NCTA head is credited with ‘more aggressive, market-based’ approach; indicates likelihood of new position within industry. Kyle McSlarrow, President and CEO of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association since 2005, announced Nov. 19 he will leave his post in the spring of 2011. McSlarrow, 50, signaled in his departure statement that he planned on taking a job in the cable industry after he left NCTA.
