Associations seek to blunt Form 990 disclosure

The American Society of Association Executives is drumming up support for the introduction of a congressional bill that would allow blacking out names or compensation figures of employees whose pay will be made public via IRS 990 forms filed next year. “We wouldn’t attempt to limit [the IRS’] authority to collect the compensation information,” said Chris Vest, director of public policy for ASAE. “But we would suggest in the legislative solution, that the information be redacted when it’s made publicly available.”
