Meat groups call for repeal of country-of-origin labeling Six associations representing meat producers are asking lawmakers to strike down a law that requires meat products to carry country-of-origin labels. The groups had hoped to revise the law using the Farm Bill, which was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday. But the bill came out of the chamber without any changes to the labeling law, so now the associations are seeking full repeal, Reuters reports.

Groups outline priorities for SOTU address At least two associations are spelling out what they would like to hear President Barack Obama say in his State of the Union address later today. In an open letter to the president, National Manufacturers Association CEO Jay Timmons joined with board chairman Doug Oberhelman to outline five things lawmakers could do to create more than 20,000 manufacturing jobs per month. They include modernizing infrastructure, tax reform and developing a skilled workforce.
