Prominent nonprofit executive Ed Able dies at 72

Able Longtime association leader and consultant Ed Able died Dec. 23 of emphysema. He was 72. Able also had a stroke several years ago. He was president and CEO of the American Association of Museums (now the American Alliance of Museums) from 1986 to 2006, and subsequently was a consultant to nonprofit organizations. Able served on the ASAE board for 13 years, and became an ASAE fellow, according to the website edablejr.com, created in his memory by longtime friend Brian Stevens.
