A coalition of more than 200 business groups representing multiple industries will soon launch a renewed push to pressure the Trump administration to end its trade war with China, the news site Bloomberg reported Thursday.
The campaign—which builds on the existing Tariffs Hurt the Heartland effort launched last fall—will consist of a "two-pronged" attack that will involve "blanketing Capitol Hill with farmers and other business owners" and a new ad claiming that trade tensions are harming babies, according to Bloomberg.
President Donald Trump is meeting with Chinese officials this week to discuss trade between the two countries. So far the president hasn't budged on his plans to go through with tariffs on more than $200 billion in Chinese goods despite pleas from the business community.
"People have to think through different strategies because the normal operating procedure doesn't work," Matt Priest, CEO of the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America, told the news site. "Some of that strategy is paying off, but the response isn't the response we would've liked." https://bloom.bg/2HGK7gU
