CEO DATELINE - Cryptocurrency firms form Blockchain Association

Three cryptocurrency companies have formed a new association to advocate for their industry on regulatory and legal matters.
The Blockchain Association "will serve as the unified voice of the blockchain ecosystem," the companies announced Tuesday on the online publishing platform Medium. Cryptocurrency firms Coinbase, Protocol Labs and Circle are the founding members.
The Blockchain Association is not the first trade group to spring up to represent the growing cryptocurrency and blockchain industries. The Digital Trade Asset Association and American Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Association both launched earlier this year. However, the new group said its founding members bring it visibility.
"As a group, they can have the conversations with policymakers that will drive meaningful change," the companies said on Medium.
The Blockchain Association has hired Kristen McKenzie Smith as director of external affairs. Smith most recently was an adviser on lobbying at the law firm Thompson Coburn. She previously was managing director of public policy at consulting firm VogelHood Group.
