Two associations, representing the equipment leasing and independent grocer industries, announced separate hunger relief efforts Monday.
The Equipment Leasing and Finance Association announced it has partnered with Feeding Children Everywhere to raise donations to provide meals to people in areas ravaged by the recent hurricanes that hit Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. The same day, the National Grocers Association announced its foundation had raised nearly $77,000 for Feeding America, a domestic hunger relief organization.
ELFA Ralph Petta said in a statement that his association would match donations up to $10,000 raised through the Feeding Children Everywhere website (http://bit.ly/2y3l4e5). The group also donated $11,000 to support the Feeding Children Everywhere Puerto Rican hurricane relief effort, which is working with federal authorities to distribute 4.4 million meal kits to children and families in the region.
The donation by the NGA Foundation to Feeding America will pay for more than 846,000 meals, the association said in a statement. The fundraising campaign was conducted in partnership with Retailer Owned Food Distributors & Associates.
