Three of the largest associations representing doctors, nurses and hospitals called on President Donald Trump to work with President-elect Joe Biden's transition team and share information related to COVID-19, including the status of supplies and plans for distributing vaccines.

The Nov. 17 letter was signed by Richard Pollack, CEO of the American Hospital Association; James Madara, CEO of the American Medical Association; and Debbie Dawson Hatmaker, acting CEO of the American Nurses Association.

"Real-time data and information on the supply of therapeutics, testing supplies, personal protective equipment, ventilators, hospital bed capacity and workforce availability to plan for further deployment of the nation's assets needs to be shared to save countless lives," the letter said. "All information about the capacity of the Strategic National Stockpile, the assets from Operation Warp Speed, and plans for dissemination of therapeutics and vaccines needs to be shared as quickly as possible to ensure that there is continuity in strategic planning so that there is no lapse in our ability to care for patients."

Biden warned in a Nov. 16 speech that "more people may die if we don't coordinate" on the coronavirus pandemic.
