The American Clean Power Association, or ACP, unveiled a new website and rolled out its first ad campaign "showcasing the size and economic punch of the industry and its massive future potential," the group said in a statement. The association was announced last year as a replacement for American Wind Energy Association, with a focus on representing not just wind power but all forms of sustainable energy production and storage.
"The renewable industry is ready to solve two of the nation's biggest challenges—rebuilding our economy and addressing climate change," ACP CEO Heather Zichal said. "In his inaugural speech, President Biden announced bold climate and energy goals and our ad campaign reinforces the fact that the clean power industry is ready to help our country meet them."
Zichal most recently was CEO of the Blue Prosperity Coalition, a global network of governments, nongovernmental organizations, scientists and ocean experts working to advance sustainable, ocean-based economic goals. She previously was deputy assistant to the president for energy and climate change during the Obama administration, where she coordinated the administration's energy and climate policy, including the Climate Action Plan.
ACP's website lists 59 staff. Several employees previously worked for AWEA. Former AWEA CEO Tom Kiernan stepped down at the end of last year. The group's headquarters is in Washington, D.C.
The ad campaign, titled "All Ready," will run online and on social media. It will run for several months and "highlights the innovation, growth and investment happening across the country to make clean power the dominant form of energy in the U.S.," according to ACP. Ads also will direct people to the association's website.
