The "Close the Say Gap" program was launched ahead of International Women's Day on March 8 to bring awareness to the lack of women featured as spokespeople in the media, according to an association statement. An independent analysis conducted for the PRC found that women were quoted only one-third of the time in media coverage during the last six months.
"The Gender Pay Gap has widespread awareness, but little attention has been paid to one of the underlying causes: The Say Gap," PRC President Kim Sample said in a statement. "Women, especially women of color, have low visibility as experts in business and public life."
PRC members have pledged to make a number of changes as part of the push, including getting a female spokesperson in their agencies on events' stages and in the media at least two times a year, and promising to only participate in panels with equal gender representation. https://bwnews.pr/2VNehol
