Attendees at the upcoming CES trade show will soon be able to download a mobile app that will alert them and the show's organizers about emergencies, Variety reported Thursday.
CES is produced by the Consumer Technology Association and is one of the largest trade shows in the U.S. The next show runs Jan. 9-12 in Las Vegas, where a shooter killed 58 people at an outdoor concert in October.
Many trade shows and conferences have been stepping up security in recent years in response to high-profile mass shootings and terrorist attacks, although no shows have been targeted. The LiveSafe app being debuted by CTA will notify CES attendees about emergencies as well as allow them to notify organizers about security concerns and other problems, such as if they lost their bag, the magazine reported.
The LiveSafe app is separate from the main CES app. It also isn't the only new security measure being implemented at the next show. CTA will require a unique and verifiable email address for each registrant. CES badges will also include a mandatory photo ID for attendees and the media. A photo ID is optional for exhibitors.
The LiveSafe app will debut Dec. 31 on Apple's App Store and Google Play. http://bit.ly/2AG9zOu
