The National Waste & Recycling Association in Arlington, Va., has partnered with the Environmental Research & Education Foundation in Raleigh, N.C., to produce the book "Waste & Recycling For Dummies" to paint a clearer picture of how the industry works for industry professionals, government officials, students and consumers.
Consider joining CEO Update. Membership gives full access to the latest intelligence on association management, career advancement, compensation trends and networking events, as well as hundreds of listings for senior-level association jobs.
The 46-page book includes chapters such as "Managing Food and Yard Waste," "Digging into Waste-to-Energy and Landfills" and "Ten Misconceptions about Waste Management."
"It was important to us to tell the right story about the waste and recycling industry," NWRA CEO Darrell Smith said in a statement. "There is a lot of inaccurate information out there, and this book helps address those misunderstandings and provide a detailed look inside the inner workings of our industry. Our industry goes way beyond the curb."
NWRA's members include companies that manage waste, recycling and medical waste, as well as equipment manufacturers and distributors.
"The nuances of waste management concepts in many ways are unknown by most and are often overlooked by those not intimately familiar with this industry," EREF CEO Bryan Staley said in a statement. "Our hope is to build an interest and understanding of solid waste that encourages consideration of waste that's produced and discarded."
"Waste & Recycling For Dummies" is available in both print and digital formats, although print copies are limited. To download the e-book, which is free for a limited time, click here.
The book is published by John Wiley & Sons, which holds trademarks on the "For Dummies" title and the "Dummies Man" logo.
