$34 Million-Revenue Group Will Soon Begin Search for New Top Executive

Dave McCurdy will retire as CEO of the American Gas Association in February 2019, the $34 million-revenue group announced Wednesday.

McCurdy's retirement will cap a two-decade career leading associations. Before joining AGA in 2011, he was CEO of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers for four years and head of the now-defunct Electronic Industries Alliance for eight years. He previously spent 14 years in the U.S. House of Representatives as a Democratic representative from Oklahoma.

"In my time here, we have helped the United States take its rightful place as a leader in the global natural gas industry, made significant commitments to the safety and security of our communities and delivered unparalleled value to our members," McCurdy said in a statement. "I could not be more proud of this organization and the companies and leaders we represent."

McCurdy, 67, grew up in Oklahoma and earned a law degree from Oklahoma Law School. He served in the U.S. Air Force, rising to the rank of major and serving as a Judge Advocate General. He afterward became assistant attorney general in his home state and was first elected to Congress in 1980.
