The American Academy of Actuaries has appointed Mary Downs, the groups general counsel, as new executive director. Downs had been serving as interim executive director of the group since April, when the previous executive director, Grace Hinchman, left after 11 months with the organization. Downs continued to hold the position of general counsel while serving as interim director.
