Actuaries Academy names new director

The American Academy of Actuaries has appointed Mary Downs, the group’s general counsel, as new executive director. Downs had been serving as interim executive director of the group since April, when the previous executive director, Grace Hinchman, left after 11 months with the organization. Downs continued to hold the position of general counsel while serving as interim director.

Equipment Leasing CEO to head D.C. office for SIFMA

Bentsen Jr., a former Democratic member of Congress and current president of the $9 million Equipment Leasing and Finance Association, is moving over in September to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association and will head its Washington, D.C. office as executive vice president, public policy and advocacy.
