ASAE and Forum forecast annual meeting attendance

Despite the struggling economy, registrations to the Association Forum of Chicagoland’s annual meeting, scheduled for June 23 at the Navy Pier in downtown Chicago, are 12 percent higher than they were in advance of last year’s meeting, according to Gregory Fine, the Forum’s spokesman. Fine said that the group hopes the event will host up to 400 attendees this year, although he added that any amount above last year’s 378 attendees would be counted as a success.

Congressional officials close lobbyist termination loophole

In an ongoing attempt to clarify lobbying disclosure requirements, the Secretary of the Senate and the Clerk of the House of Representatives have further updated guidance on de-registration as a federal lobbyist. The newest information, issued June 16, allows lobbyists to de-register if time spent lobbying drops below 20 percent. De-registration is also permitted when no further lobbying contacts are expected.
